Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN)

Hotel Association Nepal was established in 1966 A.D., when it had just eight hotels and all of them in Kathmandu itself. In the first ten years of its existence, Due to the early stage of the industrial age as well as the membership being extremely homogenous, hotel Association Nepal was able to make its mark on the governmental regulatory and social up gradation aspects of tourism. Furthermore, HAN is able to project itself as a leader in the decision making process pertaining to tourism.

Objective and Function of HAN

☞To promote the hotel industry and to protect the lawful rights of members and to maintain good           understanding among the members within and outside the Nepal.
☞To advance the standard of hotels education by all means including the interchange of personnel,         and assistance in staffing of hotels and provision of advanced studies and training into the field of       the hotel industry.
☞To consider investigate and inquire into all questions connected with the interest of the members.
☞To make better further international understanding and goodwill.
☞To promote good industrial relations between the employees and employers.
☞To promote development of laws in regard to the tourists, visitors, accommodation industries, and       also make representation against such laws that may be deter mental to the interest of its                       members.
☞To understand arbitration towards the settlement of disputes between members of the association,       members of other persons.
☞To assist and cooperate with international, regional or other organizations having the above                 mentioned objectives and similar objectives.

Moreover, Hotel Association of Nepal has been playing a role of pressure group in different practical issues related to tourism sector whether it is a question of environment, pollution, strikes, problems of aviation, air seat etc. HAN has been raising these issues on national and international forum. It has been regarded as potential professional group and it is because of the fact that HAN's president has been represented in different government as well as inters governmental committees and respective organizations.
