The primary purpose of NATTA was to protect the interests of those engaged in the travel trade business, and to promote its orderly growth and development, to safeguard the travelling public from exploitation by unreliable agents.

The association's members has been increasing since its established . Today, there are 365 active members and 14 allied members in NATTA. It also offers provisional membership.
