Nepal Mountaineering Association was established in 1973 A.D. It is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political and non-political organization working as a national alpine association of Nepal to promote mountain tourism, climbing sports, protect mountain environments and preserve, and promote cultural heritage of mountain people. It is the only national alpine club authorized to issued climbing permits for 33 mountain peaks of Nepal.
Objective and Function NMA
☛To make mountaineering and trekking popular amongst Nepalese people.
☛To conduct various activities to promote Nepalese Mountains.
☛To support the work to benefit professional climbers and individuals involved in mountaineering
and develop mountain climbing skills and efficiencies.
☛To protect the Nepalese mountain and natural beauties and environment of mountain areas.
☛To co-ordinate and organize Nepalese climbing teams, conduct mountain climbing campaigns and other activities related to mountaineering.
☛To assist and advice concerned authorities in formulating policies and increase mountaineering activities.
☛To obtain national and international recognition to Nepal mountaineering association.
☛To train Nepalese and foreigners for mountaineering and rescue operation and establish.
☛To encourage more foreign mountaineering teams to climb mountains in Nepal.
☛To upgrade, operate and manage International mountain museum.
☛To Adhere to Tourism Act and mountaineering regulations mentioned in the Act.
☛To keep cordial relationship with regional and international institutions related to mountaineering, Himalayan environment and sports climbing.
